DIY Re-felting Bay Window
Agriv8 - 2/4/12 at 10:08 AM

About 3 inches of verticle felt has parted comapy with the flat bit durring the winter a temporary fix was put in place to stop water / weater getting in and under, but really nead a more suitable fix before next winter and before we remorgage the house just in case they do send the valuers arround.

The bay is out of direct sunlight and worst of the weather and the original has lasted 30 + years so looking to replace like with like, the bay id about 60 cm deep and 4m long approx.

so I could get a roofer in BUT

looks like you can get sticky backed roofing felt these days the flashing is still in good nick so can re-use this, the bay is easy to get to acesible so thinking I may have a go myself.

So looking for recomendation for the

Felt , ( types trade names required please )
Underlay ( types trade names required please )
is there anything else I need for the job ?

Have access to Wicks and LARGE builders Merchants but I dont know what I am asking for

Thanks in advance

Best bet long term is to cover it with lead.
Its more expensive but well worth it in the long run, looks better too.
I have done my porch and it was not difficult as lead is easy to shape and cut.

Cheers I had seen that mentioned on the web I am a bit worried that the bay is accesible from the front of the property and the Pikies heling themselves to it !

Only if its well out of the way of pie shaped keys.

A coat of anti burglar paint should do the trick
