When I record I can view the recording on the monitor when I try to transfer to my Laptop it shows the file but all I get is a black screen playback using windows. Anyone got any suggestions ?

Codec problem possibly. Download vlc media player and install on your pc.

Plays anything generally.

Sounds like a missing or incorrect codec issue on the computer
I guess you are getting sound but no picture?

Don't know what software the camera came with (and not at all familliar with your camera)- maybe time to dig out the CD and see if it has software required to install?
