Just moved into my house. Received my new insurance quote for end of August and it has gone up from £600 to £1600. Tried to check on comparison websites but the cheapest I can find is £1500. What can I do? I cannot not pay that at all. I have 4 years no claims. No points at all
Is the house you have moved into in a 'bad postcode' area? I had similar problems with my house sharing a postcode (the first bit) with the local ruff hole council estate. Unfortunately apart from garaging the car (if you have a garage), it's not easy to get it down.
Try going directly on to insurers web sites, LV always come out cheaper for me also try the Post Office comparison web site.
I know a few folks who've had similar experiences when they've moved. A good example is a village up the road where one side of the river is
a YO (York) postcode, but the other side is a TS (Teesside). One family use the YO postcode of an elderly relative to reduce the premiums but I'm
sure any claom would get very complicated!
Contact your proposed insurer and ask them what you can do to lower the cost. You may have to increase the excess you're willing to pay, or fit
better security. IAM courses can reduce premiums. Also think about a reduced mileage policy if its possible.
Well Post office wanted £3600. what a joke
Is that for the kit car? if it is try Frank Pickles, gave me a cracking price on my kit and my mx-5 but won't do my wife's mazda 6
Your other option is too leave the car in another location and have it all insured to that adress, though I think for this to be legal the car would actually have to live there and you'd have to get a bike or something to go and get it.
Nope its for the tintop. I am still in shock at the price hike. I thought a couple of hundred is fair enough.
