Return postage????
pewe - 12/7/12 at 10:22 AM

I ordered on-line a new idle control valve for son's Fiesta 1.25.
When it turned up it was the wrong one.
On return the supplier has refunded the cost of the valve including his postage.
He is refusing to re-imburse the £11 it cost me to return it to him, despite the fact he advertised it for a 1.25.
His stance is I didn't contact them to check it was correct.
My stance is that there was only ever one 1.25 engine (Yamaha derivative IIRC) so he should have supplied the correct one in the first place.
Any thoughts from the collective welcomed.
BTW I ordered it via his website and used Paypal.
Thanks, Pewe10

That is probably his T & C's.

The truth is he should actually pay the return, the reality is no one will help you enforce this, even if it was on eBay they wouldn't step in.

When ever we get an order wrong we supply a prepaid return label which is how it should be done, Im afraid not many do, its best to forget and move on Im afraid.

eta, after reading the reply above it may be in his T&C's but distance selling regulations make his T&C's worthless, trouble is it will cost you ££££'s and lots of your time to chase it and still probably never see your £11 back, learn from it, if it ever happens again keep the item until such time you either have a prepaid label in your possession or they send a courier to collect the item.

£11 to return it? was it made of lead?

Thanks guys - echoes my own thoughts.
At the end of the day he advertised the part as being suitable and I purchased in good faith.
Maybe a bit a subtle persuasion is called for i.e threaten to name and shame - even if that doesn't work it will give me some satisfaction!

On a sort of side note: My friends 1.25 Fiesta has been to 2 garages and had 3 idle control valves fitted, all different, all wrong! Must be something about fezza ICV's
