Bank of Dave. top top man.
i have no idea what this is...
I have it tivo'd but have not seen it. Its about an "average" guy that try to set up a bank.
There has been two episodes. The first was about the amount of collateral value required and the second was investment in high value physical mass
like gold.
I have heard its very interesting.
brilliant programme - I just watched both episodes.
Tired now.
Yeah I saw the 2nd episode last night (missed the first). I found it quite heart-warming actually, seeing the bank manager actually taking an interest
in his borrowers' businesses before lending and using personal judgement instead of "computer says no..."
Without spoiling the show, the premise is to start a bank which gives savers a 5% annual interest rate and then loans that money to borrowers at a
rate which covers the costs of the operation with any residual profits (after all costs paid) going to charity. It also tries to lend and borrow
to/from local people and businesses and then donates to local charities. He even buys local derelict property and does it up to sell which raises the
standards of the area and obviously any profits will go back in to reducing lending rates and to local charities.
I really do hope that this becomes the new standard for high street banking. It has a lot going for it in my opinion.

Don't forget it's entertainment TV and not real life.
I get the distinct impression it is for real, bits of the program are a bit staged, but all the same Dave Fishwick is running a real business. I
suppose in real life the banks do shaft us all and don’t donate all the profit to charity.
He has my vote and should run for prime minister. He has some nice motors too.

Should of said its a win win you get a good return on your investment and local good causes get a nice check ........... How banks should be and with luck and Dave will be .

My my, what a barrel of laughs life must be in the Vendee.
This guy Dave is a gem and as such should be treasured.
I'm Burnley born and bred and he's a breath of fresh air. I also worked for 15 years in City finance.
I get 0.1% interest on my sterling account. (Good old Barclays eh? With whom I've banked since my student days 45 years ago).
I can't put money with Dave until next year as there are folk queueing up to get 5% p.a. (Then again, who wouldn't?)
Read "Too Big to Fail" or The Smartest Guys in the Room" or "The Big Short" or go and work in the City. The margins the "established companies" work on are outrageous.
Banksters and their ilk should be shot with $hit from a leather blunderbuss, and Dave's the man to pull the trigger.
I can see what folk like about him and his idea, and in no way am I going to stand up for the big banks either (I know first hand how much money RBS
used to throw away
)
but I won't be sending any of my money to Dave to look after because its quite clear he doesn't know what he's doing !
The GF can't watch it without getting really angry (she worked in retail banking for years) she can't beleve how little he has in the way of
procedures and security - we recon its only a matter of time untill he makes a massive cockup and blows up in his face.....
............ Mrs Woodster worked for one of the biggest banks for 29 years until she happily took redundancy
... she was horrified at how badly the
bank was being run, it had gone from being customer friendly to lets see how much we can make out of the mugs , most of the fraud was bank staff on
customers including the great PPI rip off .... as i see it Dave can only go from strength to strength if he remembers the customer comes first ...
good luck to him
