New hobby....

.....flew my first RC plane today - a Hobbyzone Super Cub - what a laugh!

Crashed a couple of times, but good fun - even flew against advice of not flying in strong winds...gusting up to 15 knots i reckon.....but the smile factor was huge!

Any RC flying fans on here?

Rich.

I got into them but it was a passing phase.

1st plane lasted 4 mins wrecked...

2nd a few weeks...

So a very quick passing phase

Radio gear £100
Plane 1 £300
Plane 2 £150
Radio gear sold on eBay £80

Smashing the 1st plane into the only post in the whole of pontefract park in 4 mins.......
Priceless......

Next passing phase was helicopters grrrr no better

Then my kit car
Now a campervan

Good luck n take care of the plane.

Plus you need insurance to fly in public places otherwise you could end up financially screwed if you hit someone or thing.....

Dont be putting the campervan into a post. Hopefully you have picked the best van that would be the VW T5 in my book

I've started playing with multicopters...

Although I've learned to fly a bit better these days!

I've got a couple of electric planes which I need to sell. 1 is a trainer plane, the other is full on stunt plane.
I'll advertise them tomorrow if anyone is interested.

I spent a couple of years building and flying RC planes. Great fun!
Most of them ended up like this though:

The ones I didn't crash are now all full of holes from grinding / welding sparks.
Made the mistake of storing them suspended above my build table in the garage

Hopefully get back into it one day, just too many hobbies and not enough time at the moment!

Have been flying on and of for a while now.

My favourite. Sold a few years back.
Modified RCME plan .20 pylon racer.
Made it smaller and lighter and used a OS10 glow engine.
Flew well, fast (ish) or slow.

Electric brushless motored recently.

THis was my first

MiniViper

Way to fast for me so sold it on.

have a had a go at DIY Depron foam plans like this

I used a MD80 £15 camera. Needs a vibration proof mount.

Nice planes - I used to race RC cars but have always fancied a go at planes. Did you join a club for flying them? im guessing you cant just go fly them down the local park?

Do believe that you have to obtain your license now. Would suggest you a) join a local flying club and b) join the British Model Flying Association as you get third party liability cover.

I built Dennis Bryant's tiger moth from scratch, lovely plan. Was starting to build his 1/4 scale Storch but started building a car instead.

Was crap at flying, but liked the building.
