So, finally got myself a job!
Quite interesting work so far but will go into that more later.
Been asked by the boss to source a set of rubber bellows or gaiters.
Usage:
At work there is a clean room (lab) where they build electronic components. Hanging from the concrete ceiling is a crane that moves across the length
of the room.
It hangs from 16mm threaded rods (about 10 of them along the length of the track).
There is a suspended ceiling large, stiff tiles about 600mm below the concrete ceiling.
The ceiling tiles have holes in them for the threaded crane support rods to pass through. The holes are approx 25mm to allow for movement of the rods
when the crane moves around.
The problem:
Dirt from the area above the ceiling tiles gets down through the holes around the threaded rod into the 'clean room'.
So, I require some gaiters with a 16mm hole that can bolt/glue/fix to the ceiling tile. If they go to the far side of the tile and affix
'inside' that is not a problem.
They need to be quite soft/flexible rubber so the crane movement doesn't shift the whole tile via the gaiter being too 'stiff'.
Anyone able to help?
A completely different solution I've not thought of is acceptable. But I'm only 2 weeks into the job so nothing too crazy or expensive
please!
Thanks!
James
Search for 'roof dectites', they are soft rubber roof seals.
If you cut some old tyre inner tube into a C shape then make a cone out of this affix arround road and to tile and sorted.
Peharps you are wanting a more elagant soloution.

Armoured cable glands would do the job!?
How about universal fit steering rack gaiters/ The smallend should accomodate 16mm and then push the other end through the tile so it traps in one of the corugations. Hold in place with PU adhesive on the top side or cut a disc/ring from thin ply to insert inside to spread the gaiter and hold in place (or make a ring from thick welding rod).
or gearstick gators, rubber ones will stretch over the threads
some
here
could have some nice carbon fibre surrounds with them also

Ball joint boots from your local motor factors, might need a small mounting plate made up but not too difficult
