Mobile phone upgrade time

I have just reached upgrade time on my phone - but I just dont know what to go for.......
Current phone is an HTC desire , which I am mostly happy with - but the camera could be better .
I can get the Samsung Galaxy s3 on about the same deal (unlimited internet being the most important bit for me) - would this be an improvement ? Or are there any sensible alternatives , bearing in mind I dont want a blackberry.......

I think the current top-of-the-tree Android phones are the S3 and HTC One X.

I'm due to replace my HTC Legend. I had read loads of reviews and checked all the prices and was all set to get the One X....

...until I physically picked one up : it was massive !

Having a big screen may look good in the bigger-is-better world of specs, but in real life it would not fit in my pocket.

If you are ok with the size, then IMHO the HTC felt a little nicer in the hand, while the S3 was really light to the point of feeling a bit plasticky.


Back to the drawing board. I may go for the next one down: HTC One S or Samsung S2

I think we are reaching the point when even the mid-range smartphones are powerful enough to do 99% of things I would ever do, so really don't need a quad-core all singing, all dancing model.

Thats what I did.Wish I'd got an s2 now tho,never realised how bloody big the s3 is!Other than that im happy with it and the camera is good.

I have a HTC One S and can say I'm really pleased with it. That said anything would have been better than the HTC Wildfire I had previously.

Apparently, they were a pig of a phone.
S3 for me, or I might wait for the next HTC to come along.
I have the Desire HD, and its been brilliant for me.

Another S2 fan here, again after seeing the S3 I did feel it was very slightly too big. I even thought the S2 was big considering my previous phone was a tiny Nokia, but I'm happy with it now.

If I had had the choice between the S2 and the equivalent HTC I would have found it extremely hard to decide. It was only because the S2 worked out slightly cheaper.

They are all about the size of a small telly these days. The S3 apparently has much better battery life than the anemic S2. This is my next choice.

The dilemma the phone companies have, is that we are not seeing any better than we used to, so need big screens. Soon they will come with rucksacks to carry them.

I replaced my HTC desire with a HTC One X and whilst I was worried about the size initially it really isnt an issue. Its actually lighter and thinner, therefore less obvious in my pocket than the desire was.

And its an amazing phone!

Im due for upgrade got a Iphone 4 at the moment and dont know whether to go S3 or Iphone 5. 3 people I know have had the 5 and had to send them back plus I hate itunes so think I'll give the Galaxy a punt.

I have the HTC Desire Z, and it's been brilliant for me. I chose it for the flip-out keyboard. Really makes texting etc much, much quicker.

I've had a good look at the website (buymobilephines.net) , and its looking like all the `upgrade' packages are costing a lot more that I am paying now , whereas I could get a better phone for the same cost , if I were a new customer

So why do they call it an `upgrade'.....................

My workmates S3 and my S2 seem to have very similar battery life, we lose about the same percentage over a day. I think you can get larger batteries for both now, although they both then need a larger back panel to accommodate it.

I've just moved from a 3GS to an S3. Yes, it's a pretty big phone, but I surf the Internet on it lots, so it's ideal. It does feel flimsy when naked, but I have slapped it in an otterbox case which makes it feel a bit more sturdy. HTC one X is also a great phone, but battery life is known to be poorer.
