A bit swollen - one's now like a grapefruit, and the other is a right big one....

That sounds like a great donor, Rich - 'bout time you binned the Hayabusa for a 'decent' engine

Sorry, not going that way myself, have you looked at train tickets? The run from Preston to London is only about 2 hours, and, if you book a couple of days in advance, its not too expensive. (probably much less than the cost of the petrol to drive the Jag back !!)

£82 by train, (or £43 at silly o'clock)
£12 by Megabus - 6 hour trip + train to Potter's bar.

How about using your firm and go by Typhoon or the 'other' Jaguar??? Bring you own 'Chute!!

Think I'm getting old.....'Jag Man?'.......just need that tweed jacket now.....

Train is about £80 which isn't bad I suppose....would be the same as return fuel if she drives me down there.....not sure what's worse - the inevitable train delays, or the constant earache.....

Shameless advert - my Hayabusa BEC Luego Velocity now up for sale in 'For Sale' section.....

Phew! this guy strikes a hard bargain, Rich !.....but?? Two birds with one stone and all that? (There again, if he brings the Jag, returns in the Luego, he don't need a train ticket! ).....

vanepico - 29/10/12 at 12:56 PM

It'd have to be quite a discount!

richard thomas - 29/10/12 at 02:34 PM

Thanks for the offers and advice....I have bitten the bullet and convinced SWMBO to drive me down.....got my ear plugs ready

Hoping the rumour that high 20's mpg on a run are true.....

Wish me luck....might get that Shell loyalty card now....

vanepico - 29/10/12 at 03:09 PM

Should be tickling 30 mpg with cruise in.

I,m surprised they say it has an LSD, traction control sorts this out, LSD,s went with the straight 6 cars, never supplied with the V8's.

Have a google, diffs are known as a weak point, when you get it back make sure you change the gearbox and supercharger oils, both are specialist oils, for the gearbox Peugeot use the some of their automatic cars, buying 6 litres from them was far cheaper than anywhere else.

The supercharger stuff is also special, easy to do as you syringe out the old and fill with new

Enjoy, jags rock. People knock them never having had one you cannot deny the effortless performance.

Ha Ha - Wrong!!!!

It had nine.........

Think it was a smoker's car, and he just kept adding new and not disposing of the old ones....

Anyway, a quick trip to Halfords, a spray and a new air freshener - beautiful!!! Bit of leather cleaner on it and job done...

Drove it 260 miles home, just over 1/2 a tank of juice - not bad?

The guy had even filled it up for me, thoroughly nice chap all in all...

Diff does need a looking at though - VERY noisy on the overrun, and ABS/Traction control warning on.....but for that money I don't give a monkey's....

Just gave the kids a spin out in it, booted it in 'sport' setting - OMG!!!

I love it!

stevegough - 30/10/12 at 06:30 PM

That's great, Rich - sounds like your new toy is living up to your expectations.

Half of a twenty gallon tank equates to 26mpg - doesn't sound too bad, but then again, you didn't buy it for the economy, did you??

I once had the onerous task of having to drive a friend's 52reg XKR back to his house in Birmingham - the performance is pretty, fair, ISTR...
