Just a note to warn folks about some types of fireworks.

It seems that some of them are now using plastic inserts inside the cardboard tubes, today one of my dogs almost choked to death, I only knew when he started to yelp really badly. The tube is about 3 inches long and about 1/4 inch in diameter.

Before you let your pets loose in your gardens , please check for these very dangerous items.

I will be sending a email to the mayor manufactures about this. The cardboard was bad enough, now they have plastic inside them as well !!!!!

Noticed the same this morning when clearing up in the garden. Also noticed last night that some of the rockets we had came with a plastic sheath over the fuse which you pull off before lighting - easy to lose in the dark and perfect for dogs to chew on as well.

Thanks for the heads-up chap. Our 6month old Goldie has a plastic magnet for a nose!! Already had a couple of close calls with her eating antics.

thanks will check, dogs do like the oddest of smells and mine seem to like burnt plastic bottles etc, there were heaps of fireworks around us the last few days which have been really scaring the animals. My neighbour’s dog was found cowering at my back door in a heap shaking like a leaf, poor thing people are so selfish and uncaring of how they effect others

Well the last 24 hrs have been carefully watched, he was unable to eat his dinner yesterday or except any treats, but thankfully has eaten today, had he not done this then a vet visit would have been on the cards.

I agree with you Mr Whippy, the house over the back know full well I have 3 dogs, yet they never bothered to warn me of the noise aspect of fireworks either.

I did another check this morning and found 3 more of these plastic tubes, I have no clue from which type of firework they come from, together with enough cardboard to start my own paper mill...., although the long sticks ( which I assume are from rockets) do come in handy for the seedlings come springtime ....lol...

Was at my brothers fireworks party on Saturday. And his Koi and Roach haven't shown any symptoms of the fireworks as yet.
