Good cheap camera recommendation
richardh - 10/12/12 at 09:50 AM

Hi,
Mrs is looking for a compact camera that has wifi (no doubt to capture and facebook instantly).
The ones we've seen so far all seem to take seconds from time of clicking capture button to the camera actually taking the picture.
What is it with these alleged better things, my old 110 or 35mm never had this trouble!

Anyways, any recommendations from folks on here?

Cheers.

You'd probably be better off with a smartphone the cameras in most are more than adequate now

I have the same requirement ( although not interested in wi-fi, GPS etc ) I need a small camera that fits in a pocket but takes pictures instantly. I tried to take a picture of a steam train yesterday and ended up with a nice picture of the side of a carriage
I take candids mainly but with the digital camera the subject is two streets away before the shutter clicks.

And why is there this delay anyway ? - the Jessop's man was very unconvincing.

is it the nikon coolpix one that reckons it starts taking the picture before you've even pressed the shutter? not sure its not wifi or anything like that though.
theres a samsung one with wifi i think. no idea what the shutter reaction is like though

I got a Samsung WB690 12.0 MP Digital Camera new from Argos on Ebay for £49. It has 18x zoom, HD video and is an amazing piece of kit for the money.

Delay between click and taking the picture is usually due to facial recognition features, usually disabling it and pre-selecting a mode (ie landscape/indoors/night/portrait/party whatever) will help.
