Working away and forgot about the counter weight. Not do that again in a hurry.
fingernail
Ouch! Now get yourself and the remains of your finger tip off to casualty.
Its Ok bit of duct tape and on we go. Too busy for the hospital.
Descriptionfinger tape
I use nail clippers to trim mine, a lot less risky. Now put your gloves and glasses on when you are using power tools, that's what it says in the instructions.

Yeah its thumping just now. Just going to power through. It looks worse than it is. Timing is great though, Monday morning. Busy hands on week ahead.

Get some dust in it to soak up the blood, then as you were.

Get it looked at!
Jammed a finger in an ice cream packing machine 20 yrs ago and sustained a similar injury and lost the nail. Hands were so cold I didn't feel
it, wrapped tightly in blue tape and carried on. Never got it looked at as it never hurt that much. Now have a very stiff last joint (worse in this
cold weather) scarring and no fingertip feel.
Thought id right a more serious reply now. I am not going to go to the hospital with this but I agree it wouldn't hurt.
The cut under the nail is not too deep and I have not lost any feeling in my finger. The bleeding has also well stopped. If any of this had been
different I would have gone to the hospital.
I have decided to treat it myself, at my own risk, so without bravado here is what I do.
The next day the pain has subsided enough for me to work on it.
I took the duck tape bandage off and let it air. Duck tape is good and water proof but is also pretty air tight. Not good.
Once it has dried a bit I soaked the finger in warm salt water. Just to soften the area. The bit of nail had not completely detached yet but was
starting to get a bit funky. So a deep breath and off it came. No blood, all good.
My mother in law is a nurse and keeps me stocked on various bits to keep me all together.
I then cleaned the area using the sponge. It is soaked in alcohol and has a bristled side. It is also sterile.
It comes with a small plastic picker to help remove those more stubborn bits. After that I let it dry again.
Then spray the finger with betadine, spray on iodine. That hurt. I think it only hurts if its killing something so there may have been some infection
there already.
After that I put some lint free gauze on the wound so it wont stick. Then taped it up with micropore tape, Breathable.
After that put a finger bandage on it. I'll change the dressing daily until the skin has grown back on the nail bed and it can protect itself.
Some pics of before it was cleaned, bits from the other tool kit I like to keep handy and it all dressed.
