A while ago on here, someone found a company doing small runs of enamel car badges. Anyone remember it?
No, but that post has brought a small lump into my throat.
When I was 10 years old (early 90s) our family business - a car dealership/filling station/etc, etc went into receivership. It was the end of 4
generations of my family selling motor vehicles and the end of a business that had celebrated 125 years of trading. It's roots had actually
pre-dated motorised transport, starting off as a bicycle retailer.
One of the few relics that I have is a handful of enamel badges which were, once upon a time, fastened onto new cars by the dealer - much like the
text on modern number plates or the stickers that go in rear windows of cars. They have the name of the business and the telephone number (which from
memory is TWO digits long!) as well as a St Christopher embossed in the middle
When my car is finished (a long way off) one of these badges will take pride of place on the dashboard of my creation!
