Another eBay scam attempt

I've recently sold a blackberry playbook on eBay, it ended at 12.09 yesterday, immediately received the usual eBay notifications on my iPhone of the auction finishing, item sold, and also an email from the "buyer". Gave me his home address and details etc...

I ignored it as he hadn't paid, thought nothing more of it.


About ten minutes later I get another eBay email, this time from another "buyer" asking if he can pay using a postal order. I go back and check who the winning bidder was, and guess what it wasn't the first buyer, but the second one..

His email was timed exactly at the same time as the auction end, to the second. So appears automated to arrive immediately the auction ends.


I sent him an email asking exactly what did he think he was up too, and no surprise he hasn't replied. I reported him to eBay last night as a possible scammer..


Not exactly high tech, but it wouldn't be hard to catch folk out, we should have a sticky here on eBay stupidity & scams...

It sold again this morning, still heard bugger all from the buyer......


I am convinced its one of the original two turds who i reported to ebay, when I sold it first time round.



My seller settings have been hiked right up, if your without feedback, a paypal account and credit card registered, you cannot buy my stuff now.

Here's the update on the many attempts to rip me off for the blackberry



It has sold - a zero feedback bidder won it, a confirmed ebayer with a confirmed address.


However they didn't pay until 4 days after the auction end, in my frustration I emailed them on day 3 and gave them a piece of my mind.. Only to find they paid the following day, but didn't respond to my snotty email.

I checked PayPal and the funds where there. I then printed off their address from eBay, parcelled it up and sent it by registered insured post..signature required at the delivery end.

Several days went by, and I heard nothing. Then I get a snotty email from them moaning about my email, and asking why I had sent it to the "wrong" address..


I checked PayPal, and they had PayPal messaged me to send to her "sons" in Birmingham, the buyer is registered in Plymouth.

Subsequently I was left negative feedback for sending to the wrong address,, I challenged it via eBay and they haven't bothered answering. I also replied to their feedback
..


Now here is the scam - if I had sent the item to any other address other than their registered eBay address (Plymouth) I would fall outside the PayPal protection.

I looked at the address in Birmingham, and its clearly student accommodation. Here's the next bit, the house will be occupied by umpteen arseholes, one of whom will sign for my playbook.. It then disappears into the abyss, and the cretins have my playbook, but she in Plymouth requests a PayPal refund, as item not recieved.


She profits the £100 back into her bank, I lose it from mine, and the playbook is missing in Birmingham.



Now I was sceptical about this buyer anyway, and knew there was a rabbit off, from her emails to me. Now here's the scam confirmation , part 2


Yesterday I got a number of emails from a guy selling a playbook, he also had exactly the same experience with my buyer. Except he spotted it and didn't post the item off to her, he reported her too.

I clearly cheesed them off, as I stuck to the eBay policy and posted to the registered address, so they cannot complete the fraud..



Neither PayPal or eBay have even responded to my complaints, and his..


Please be careful posting to alternate addresses, the scum are waiting to pounce....

What's the scammers eBay name? Might help others if they are selling similar goods.

I suppose it might also be worth stating that items will only be sent to the registered PayPal address within the auction text, it might help to put some of these scammers off.

What I think is happening, is the buyer probably does exist as a person, although a search on their name on google brought up a page of death messages in the local papers in Plymouth, work that one out....


The ebay address they have is confirmed, not quite sure how you achieve that status with ebay, for me this is No1 son a student, living in digs in Birmingham who has a scam running via a self generated ebay account purporting to be his mother. If it was done with a stolen credit card, that wouldnt work as they generally get cancelled quick enough.



What is cheesing me off, is the negative feedback, which I am not worthy of. It is the buyer who has tried to operate outside of ebay rules, not me. Yet ebay have failed to respond now to 2 of my emails regarding this situation. The negative strike should be removed, as I havent broke any rules.....



I am off to send them another snotagram, I pay them enough each month in charges, their service is disgraceful.........

It gets better.....




Got an email from the seller last night.

The playbook doesn't work, and the black cloth to clean the screen is missing. And the word refund appeared in their bullshit.



So still no reply from any of the 3 emails I have sent eBay, and I then tried the really pathetic "chat" service on eBay, took them 25 minutes to still think I was the buyer, and hadn't received my item.

Then they cut me off, and if you want to ring them, just click on the small green telephone where it says "contact us" and it will take you to one of several pages, all without telephone numbers on.



So then, as predicted the scam completes, and I get returned a playbook which isn't the one I sent them, they get the refund and keep mine.



Meanwhile eBay sits back, and allows it to happen, and also allows the turds to leave me negative feedback, my first ever on eBay with over 530 transactions.

Do you have the serial no of the one you sent? I know that the BIB don't want to get involved in this kind of thing but I think you will find that persistence will bear out and if you are firm they will eventually have to investigate.

I get the option of a telephone number under customer support . It gives a number and a pass-code, valid for 15 mins.

Do you not get this option ? My rating is 450+ perhaps that is why ?

That really is outrageous. You actually saw it coming and will still struggle to avoid getting ripped off. What can be done now? It's impossible to prove which you sent.

There is one certainty, who ever is unfortunate enough on Monday to answer the phone for Ebay is going to get a very upset customer.


And once I have finished with them , Paypal are going to get it as well.



I am predicting my ebay & paypal account closing after the call to Ebay customer service in a part of the world, who will fail to understand Geordie.



I am more than happy to not bother with it anymore, the only efficient aspect of ebay is their ability to withdraw charges from your bank account each month.

Well they never sent you an email about it being faulty, since it's not a legal means of communication (must have ended up in my "bullshit" folder)

Tbh if I was in your position now I'd get all the money out of my paypal and my cards removed off it, even changed if need be.

They said in their last email, that if they hadnt heard from me by Monday then it was being posted back. So I emailed them about 2 hours ago, and guess what ? No reply....



The money is already moved out.....
