i've got a chance to buy an old G reg gsxr 1000/1100? not sure which, i haven't seen it yet, it's been sat in a garden for about 4 years and will need a complete strip down and nut/bolt rebuild, the question is, even though its going to be cheap to buy there will inevetably be a fair bit of rebuild cost so whats a showroom condition 1989 gsxr going to be worth? is it a future classic?

Oil/air cooled gsxr1100

No idea of value but very popular bikes in their day.

G is 89, supposedly one of the best of the oil/aircooled engines. Unfortunately they are still at the stage where they tend to be worth more in parts than in one piece.

If it does get broken, I'd be very interested in the engine...!

Why should it bother you? It's the fun that matters, nobody is going to get rich with a rebuild!

I bet with a strip down of the carbs, fresh petrol and a jump battery it will fire up. Pressure wash it and oil the chain and away you go, don't get hung up on it not looking like a new one those engines were practically indestructible.

They are very good bikes and as long as it hasnt been left out in the wet it should be OK.

As said the engines are robust bullet proof things.

I would say £400~500??
