I've just looked at his other pics.
House is nice, he lives in West Virginia overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains.
He needs a Locost to finish off his collection.
Why didn't they put the raft down first instead of laying the floor inside the timber frame. I prefer traditional methods like brick or block walls. The aerolite roof trusses take up 2/3 of his loft space. No wonder they blow away if that's how they build them. If I had that much space I think I would have spent a bit more time and money and got it done properly.
I don't care how it was built I'd have it !!!
If you look carefully at the series of pictures then there is a retaining wall upon which the woodframe is sat.
This appears to be higher than floor level and into which they then poured the concrete. Why that way I don't know but it does appear not to
breach the wood frame.
As for the trusses, they seem OK to me compared to what a builder would do in this country. Unless specifically asked they would make loft
useless.
I couldn't get over the fact that even though he had this garage built he still had to stack the cars !
That picture is not for fun, he actually has to store the Porsche that way, given all the cars he has.
I posted his album site but the original link was to a forum where he posted the pics. He also listed his cars, some of which are in album.
I consider myself extremely lucky to have so many garages (3 double) at my disposal but they are nothing like his !
Funnily enough, only my Locost is garaged, the other garages are full of junk!!

Look at his picture showing the drains and rebar, which rests on the top of his gravel retaining wall. The concrete must be up to the 3x2 of his exterior cladding.
Here's mine looking spacious. I took it from the right angle so you can't see all the junk I have and the other locost I have to move to get
in there.

...and the floor is above grade so the way the floor was poured is acceptable. Not the way I would have done it, but acceptable none the less.
I have been looking into these....
As little as $4 USD per square foot + foundation costs.
Thats pretty standard construction methods here in the US. Nobody has a building made from brick anymore. Firts you pour the foundation so it is below the grounds freeze point, then fill the inside with dirt, and pour a cement floor over top, then nail the wooden frame too the cement foundation, and build from there. It just happens to be the cheapest way to build a house.
Cement keeps bricks apart.
