Croatia

Last year I asked for advise on his forum for a holiday in Bulgaria, and I am pleased to say that you all came up trumps and we had a lovely time from a recommended resort and hotel.

So here I am again, but this time we are looking at Croatia..... Is there anyone out there who may have experienced Croatia and can point me and advise me?

I would be most grateful

Regards Peter

Went lays year for 14 days, 5 in Trogir the the remainder on a small island in a self catering apartment on Korcula. Trogir was ok for a couple of days but not much longer, Split we visited and again would be ok for a couple of days, the time spent on Korcula was the best, not to rowdy, good food and our accommodation was good, I can let you have details of both the place we stayed in Trogir and Korcula. It wasn't expensive but buy the same token wasn't cheap cheap either. Food was a bit limited in Trogir, pasta, pizza and meat, other halls a veggie!
Food on Korcula was better and more varied. If you stay in Trogir it's worth taking a day trip to Split on the ferry just for the journey itself. Ferry from split to Korcula was great, modernist cat so quick and pretty comfortable. We just booked flights and then did trip advisor for the hotels etc, package deals didn't look like they were great value tbh.

I did quite a big trip over 10 days. Flew into Slovenia then coach to Zagreb, then train to the coast then ferry down the Dalmatian coast to Dubrovnik then picked up a hire car and drove back north and flew back from somewhere else. Some of that might be wrong as it was a few years ago. Depends what you like but the Plitvicka / Plitvice? Lake and waterfalls were good but go early as they get busy. Lots of UNESCO World Heritage sites. I enjoyed it and so did the mrs.

What do you want to know? Been there every year for past 19 years as my wife is Croatian got lots of family there.

Beautiful country, beautiful people.

We often drive down through Germany so we have our own car with us.

Istria is my favourite place. Pula is stunning and a good base to get around. Great if you like site seeing as its an old Roman town with a huge amphitheatre and loads of roman ruins. Food and drink are good and cheap. Also worth checking out Porec.

Porec is close to the Slovenian boarder so day trips to the beautiful Lljubana and Lipica (home of the famous horses) and Postajna with its amazing cave system are all possible.

Selnice is also good on the Adratic coast as is Zadar. Easy access to the Paklenica and the Plitvica Jezera national parks. Plitvica is stunning with cobalt blue water and stunning waterfalls. A must see.

Further down the coast Split and Dubrovnik are amazing. Dubrovnik is the Jewel of the Adratic but if never made it there myself. Friends and family tell me it's lovely.

Inland Zagreb is a good day trip as Varazdin and Trakosan (Castle) if you're up north.

Drop me a U2U if you want more info.

A couple of summers ago, my girlfriend and I stayed in an apartment in Dubrovnik on the hill/mountain side overlooking the old town. Absolutely amazing view and lovely place.

Having trouble uploading a photo taken from the balcony, but if you type Dubrovnik into google images, then all the ones overlooking the harbour and old town are pretty much the same.

I'll see if I can find the details of the apartment.

Edit: Found it... http://www.dubrovnikapartmentsource.com/page.asp?DASID=D01000

Nice helpful lady to deal with too.

I went to Croatia once, on a lads drinking holiday, you wouldn't want to go to that resort even if I could remember it.
We did however have a moment of sobriety and decided to go to the plitvice? Waterfalls/lake national park
It was amazing
I'm slightly shocked we managed something so good when we otherwise were either asleep or drinking
