Well, must be my lucky day, I just received a call from some woman (in India I guess) telling me what a jolly fine chappie I am for always paying my
electricity bills on time and that I have been shortlisted (at 6' 4" I wouldn't call me short!) to receive a super special device whcih
I plug in to the wall and save 40% off my electricity bills from the moment I plug it in and for the rest of my life!!
Anyhow, after the mandatory Google search, (BTW, I had told her to go away after the wrong postcode was given as mine - about 250 miles away
actually!), I found this
Wish I had been as switched on, but I was in the middle of an online meeting so couldn't think straight.
It's long but well worth it
This is part 2 BTW....
Glad you didn't fall for this scam, I hope no one does either. If you do some more googling on it, you will find it has caught fire in some cases and does not conform to UK safety regs. I get about 3 calls a week regarding this, they get my details wrong as well, so just either wind them up or put the phone down on them, see my post yesterday about changing phone numbers, these calls are just one of the reasons why.
WSo much for the Telephone Preference Service, we have had a spate of them recently, all sorts of idiots ringing up!

Yep, the TPS is only effective if the call was made in the UK ( not that many of them adhere to the rules!), in all other cases it makes no difference.
Very tempted to get one of these
BT6500
It puts all unknown number (CLI withheld) or international calls straight to the answer phone without ringing.....great solution to the problem and if
it is someone you want to speak to you can ring back.

Buy one by all means, but it wont stop the calls made from VOIP, which spoofs UK numbers, this is now the method to use for scamming and telemarketing because it gets around the CLI issue, the number is often a disused UK number and is used by those abroad - when they call your phone it 'sees' the number as a genuine call and lets it through.
I just watched that whole vid - 20 mins gone, but it did make me smile!
