Re listing an ebay item

Hiya,

If you "forget" to put a buy it now price on an ebay item and you are offered a price - how do you go about cancelling the listing and re listing with a buy it now without getting in bother with ebay?

If you mean it is an auction item and there are bids on it you have to cancel each bid and then end the auction, if no bids then just end the auction

You can add Buy it now to an existing auction as long as there are no bids.
If you cant then you've already got bids and your a bad person to withdraw it from the aution

It is allowable for sellers to remove an item for instance if an item has become damaged after it was listed as it is no longer as described.

It would not be wise for a seller to routinely use that line too many times in sucession as Ebay might regard it as a 'dog ate my homework' excuse if they received too many complaints from buyers.

You can just end the listing as long as it has more than 12 hours left to run with no consequences. It helps avoid final value fees from ebay but you still pay the insertion price. Get ready for all the messages from people saying they were watching the item and going to bid at the end, reply telling them to get in earlier next time and stop trying to get stuff for nothing

Ahhhh - come on, don't tell me you have never asked for a buy it now price. I was'nt to bad - was asking for the seller to put a buy it now on .

Why not just bid the amount you're prepared to pay? You may get it for less, or the seller may get more for it. Isn't that how it's meant to work?

If the seller isn't aware of the true worth of the item they're selling, you can sometimes obtain a bargain by asking/offering a 'buy it now' price as soon as it's listed. I've done it on many occasions, when I've not been prepared to pay the 'going rate' of an item in auction.
