I know this site is full of all walks of life and occupations.
Here at work were are to start fixing a handrail on a concrete walk way and my usual RAMS form has been sent back to me as not fit for purpose
.
Breif layout is, the walkway consists of 16 small ones branching off a larger one, (will get to that later lol). They are all approx. 1200mm wide and
7500mm long, handrail down both side and at the end. My idea was to get a small working platform and have it pushed up to the side of the wall so that
we would have no need to wear harnesses and life lines, the drop is 2 mtrs.
Fix the standards and rail, drilling and sliding tube through the posts and move the platform along until the end is reached. Sounds ok in my head but
the H&S chap on sites not all please and needs it revising.
Is the anyone out there who deals with this sort of stuff who could possibly help be out for beer tokens
I can email you my form and fill you in on what im after.
I do them at work. It's usually the layout of the rams rather than the actual method. Although your method wouldn't be classed as safe by most main contractors. It need staffold built and most causes that's upto the main contractor to organise. I'd suggest you speak to your site contact plus check your contract as that should have been all agreed first.
Hi Joe,
PM me your email address and I'll send you some of my risk assessment and method statements.
Either tailor them to your requirements or give me a bell and I'll do them for you.
Just to add, the method statement should basically list all activitys in order and how they are done. So you could give someone your method statement,
they read it and can have a proper understanding of how the job is done. Obviously tiny details aren't needed but main part is.
Attend site induction
Unload lorry using hand ball/forklift
Etc
I can send you one of ours if you like.

Our risks are set out in a table, numbered titled etc. lists the risk , what can be done to minimise the risk, what the rating of the risk is before and after action.
The format we use is a table which outlines the hazard, uncontrolled risk rating (likelihood x severity), control measures and residual risk (risk
present after control measures are in place)
Is it the format that the safety guy doesn't like or the methodology?
Not entirely sure what you are doing from your description but I wouldn't have a problem with people working from MEWPS, so long as ground
conditions are suitable. It wouldn't be practicable to install a full scaffold. U2U me if you need an example of our RA format.
Seems like the ones I do have been too detailed. Nice blocks with few words and some numbers seem the way to go. Thanks for your input. This site is the dogs danglies.
Hey, I do them for Lift shafts every day. Feel free to email me them how you sent them and and ill modify and fill them in for you.
