It's at the low end of Samsungs range, still being sold for far too much by one of the networks . However, if you can get it for a good price though it's a decently capable phone.
Check out the PAYG upgrade option on the Huawei Y300 at Carphone Warehouse as well. All you do is find someone with a PAYG sim from O2, Vodaphone or
Orange that has topped up credit in the last 6 months and put their phone number in the automatic eligibilty checker and if it checks out you can get
the Y300 for £59.95 delivered to your door when it should be around £130.
If you do a comparison against the Galaxy Ace (it is the Ace and not the Ace 2?) it should come up as pretty decent.
They come unlocked as well so you can just bung in whatever SIM card you want.
I had the original Ace and I would reckon the Y300 was a better phone.
I have had one on contract for 18 months and find it ok, but as said the camera is not to good to the extent that I dont really use it as a camera, it
is great for internet and sat nav use but battery life is not that great, I always have to take a charger with me if away from home as it needs
charging daily if 3 g is left on .

There is the Ace and the Ace 2 we have one of each the Ace 2 is slightly bigger & faster with a better camera but both are cracking little phones but don't go PAYG
Most networks will give you an Ace free on a 2 year contract for about £15-16 month however EE/Orange do the Ace2 for the same money.

I think £15 a month for an ace or ace2 is too much, i'm only paying that for an s2 and its a much better phone. I would want an ace to be closer to 10 a month.
If you don't fancy being tied to a contract there's Giffgaff PAYG which uses O2 as a carrier. Used to be a tenner but they have just put it
up to £12 for a monthly goodybag with 500 mins, unlimited texts, unlimited data and free to other Giffgaff sims.
The tenner a month only gets you 1 gig of data now, I realize it's the same as what you would pay on a contract but you are not tied into
anything for 18 months or whatever so you can do as you please. I used to be a contract guy and must have the latest phone but I find it a lot
cheaper and a lot more liberating to be without the contract now even if the handsets are not cutting edge.
Work gave me one for work. Biggest pile of shite I've ever used. Broke pretty quick thankfully. Back to my old blackberry andiPhone as personal phone tho.

A £10 a month contract hasn't go enough air time and data for most users and the slightly bigger S2 is not an easy fit in the pocket once it has a soft case on.
I've got one on EE for about £10 a month including enough internet to keep me going between wifi hotspots.
No complaints great phone , camera not bad if you concentrate on keeping it still, good tv from catchup services, talk to text which saves a lot of
faffin with my clumsy fingers.

I wouldn't disagree with either point as general comments, but the original requirement was phone, texts and camera. No data mentioned, and its already been mentioned the ace camera isn't brilliant. So either £10 a month to keep it locost, or go up to a different phone for a better camera.
