About as pointless as you can get?

Mad machine

Smoking Frog - 3/11/13 at 08:56 AM

I agree no point at all. I had a labourer that could move concrete blocks that fast.

Slimy38 - 3/11/13 at 09:12 AM

I'm guessing it would take a few millenia just to take up the slack in the gears...

joneh - 3/11/13 at 09:14 AM

Puts the US debt into perspective - it'd need to do another 7 or 8 turns!!

Bet it makes a few N·m on the output though!

How exciting. I don't think I'm gona be able to sleep tonight. Is there a live webcam link to it.

Pointless, but interesting,

and i wonder what would happen if it was powered the other way round, ie were the concrete block is, was even turned
at one rev per year, the other end would be going at light speed

Would probably shake itself to bit? Would be quite cool to watch though, but the worm gears wouldnt work

balidey - 3/11/13 at 01:35 PM

The guy has made one very simple mistake.
He has not labeled the faces of the concrete block. If he goes away and comes back again how is he going to know if its turned at all?

owelly - 3/11/13 at 03:40 PM

But Shirley, the block is moving fairly quick. As is the rest of the machine and the building its in......

Peteff - 3/11/13 at 06:48 PM

I don't know about the machine but I love this bit,

I'm sure that's how I reacted when I first saw the machine. I'm still watching it, its nearly as interesting as David Blaine in his glass box.

Peteff - 3/11/13 at 07:14 PM

I've been thinking about it and what if there's a power cut
