I'm making a recumbent trike and part of the folding mechanism is a steel tube that slides inside a slightly larger steel tube. Both are made from CroMo bicycle tubing. If they're painted I suspect it will all be scratched off very quickly. What's the best stuff to coat / plate the tubes with to stop corrosion but allow them to slide without ripping it all off?
Chrome?
What about Teflon coating ?

both good ideas. What about something you can do yourself?
What about regular use of Muc off Dry lube spray or a similar PTFE type spray?
Could you bush them with nylon or maybe brass?
