OT : looking for a training app
Barkalarr - 19/2/14 at 08:48 AM

My daughter (9 yrs old) is training for a county level 1500m cross country race.
She needs to be working towards doing this in 6 mins.

She needs an app which tells her "faster, faster" so she can hit this target - can anyone recommend one?

I've got run keeper on my iphone but this will only do a minimum of 5k.

We're a family of apple users so iphone only apps please.

Try MapMyRun. This gives good splits and average pace.

I used it for my 1,000 mile challenge last year.

Damn, just tried that app and it's only good for a minimum of 5k - this is the same as run keeper.

I use Endomond for cycling but you can change the workout to running etc. Very good free version

All you need to do is work out the minute per mile pace and then run to that. 6 mins for 1,500m is 6:20 mins/mile.

Set the App to read the average pace every 0.1 of a mile (MapMyRun does this). If she's below 6:20 mins average then she needs to speed up.

What about Strava Run. It's a free app. A lot of my colleagues at work use the cycling version of Strava to compete against each other.
