Wireless Lapel mic hire!?
tegwin - 25/4/14 at 10:42 AM

Ok, so nothing to do with cars but we have quite a diverse range of people on here so worth asking.

I am shooting a promo/documentary type thing over a weekend at the end of May for my sisters company. Shooting with a canon 6D and various trick toys to get some nice shots.

What I am lacking is any audio gear. Because of the nature of the shots I want I am ideally needing 3 wireless lapel mics. (I should be able to get my hands on a multi-track recorder)

Anyone on here have such a thing they would rent me.... or anyone have any idea where I could get such a thing? The pro places are charging north of £30 per unit per day...which I guess isn't a lot for a TV company but its a hell of a lot for me...

Anyone any cunning thoughts!? Failing that I am going to have to go for a boom mic and change the shots I wanted to get...

you have a 6d and cant afford £30! are people moving or sitting/standing in one place? ask yourself do they have to be wireless as that significantly bumps up the cost.

You could try ESL

They're not the nearest to you (based in Essex), but they could probably point you in the right direction or offer useful information!

have you tried local Am Dramatics club ?

Quite a few use Radio Mikes these days possibly do a deal where you will return the favour and do them some publicity Shots

Buying the 6D has nearly bankrupted me :p The rental would work out at around £200 for the weekend from the companies I looked at online which is quite a lot.

The shots I wanted were from a distance but I still want to get the audio from the people. Its an adventure type thing so people will be moving and the best dialogue will happen "off the cuff" when people get scared.

Hadnt thought of am-dram societies. Worth a try I guess.

Cheap ones are sub £10 on Amazon...surely worth a punt?

Hmm I'd be a bit dubious. A wired £10 mic would be pretty poor I imagine a wireless one at that price would be horrific

Might be able to find something second hand.
