yer nar, I dint usual tek me fone on holida like, but I did this year..
Imagine me surprise to see I've been charged £38 for EU data roaming when all i did was have a look at FB a few times and send a couple a
texts..
SO, I've turned the data roaming bit off, bit late now I'm back like but hey hoo..
Will having it off
cause any problems back here in UK?
Steve
No, you can only roam whilst abroad. So any roaming settings will only affect you whilst outside the UK.
Texts do not count as data and should now be quite reasonably priced due to recent EU legislation. Next time, buy a data bundle - my provider does 100mb for £3 to use in Europe. Not bad really.
Mms sometimes count as data, and most operators will charge outside of any allowance for texts, even if its a few pence they soon add up.
Get a pay as you go SIM while you're there. I think my last one was 25 Euros for 7.5 Gb of data! Only had that much as I was away for a fortnight and remote desktopping into my home server and PCs a lot.

While we're talking about roaming, does anyone know why on four or five separate overnight channel crossings (between Portmouth-Caen,
Portsmouth-St. Malo, Plymouth-Roscoff) my phone has beeped in the middle of the night and received a text saying "Welcome to Iceland" ?
Nope but I have noticed that vodaphone now works in the channel tunnel all the way through
