Hi all,
I was just wondering if there was anyone here who knows a lot about solar panels and using them to charge batteries.
I'm just starting to figure out a project that's been in my mind for a couple of years.
I can't go into too many details until I'm further on with it.
But basically, I've got to charge 2 sets of batteries;
Firstly, a set of 6 batteries wired in parallel to produce 12 volts for some led lighting.
Secondly, a bank of 24 volt fork lift batteries to power a pallet truck drive motor.
I have an area of flat roof, approximately 6 feet by 14 feet.
How much charging capacity can I realistically expect from this size area of solar panels?
And how do I stop it from over charging and damaging the batteries?
Cheers Frank
I dont really know much but I would assume you would need some form of charge controller to stop from overcharging.
Have a look here for some quick info

If i was you i would ask on a narrow boat forum they use them all the time
