Saw the word "tap", and immediately thought - thread cutting. So far so good.

Then I read the words "hot and cold"!! Oh, right, water taps. Then I digested the rest. See what you meant.

Tell him he'll be able to undo it with a left handed screwdriver really easily.

Tell him for his own safety he should get a professional plumber to fit them. If you can't work out that the caps swap over you have no chance of fitting them without a flood.

He could of course turn the sink round 180 degrees... would be on the right side then!

Ah, mm, well you see we were plumbing in my new bath today, simple job 22mm pipe and 15mm pipe to the bath taps
Fitted them up in the usual fashon and hot ran cold cold ran hot
Scratch head, only conclusion is that when the house was built late 70's, or should I say "thrown together with little regard" they got the feeds wrong

Tell him you sent him a metric set not imperial he should have asked for the right type to fit his pipes

If they are labelled with 'C' and 'H' just tell him that they stand for 'Core, that's hot' and 'Heck, that's cold'

You have to tell him to stop immediately and call a plumber. His house is plumbed incorrectly and is highly dangerous. He should move away from all tools and pipework until this dangerous situation is fixed.
