It's been one of those days... I've been using my 3D printer a lot lately, making frames for PPE visors. This work has now eased as many other makers are producing them, so I decided that my main printer needed an overhaul to get rid of the list of minor problems that have really been bugging me. One of these was to fix a home-made cable chain that was drooping badly and threatening to fall apart at the slightest touch. Hacked it all away (I couldn't slide the cables out) and decided to use as a replacement the split conduit that I KNEW was in the garage. Went into the garage - and all I had was about 10 cms, and I need nearly 1 metre.

So I had to raise an order via ebay, and they're all currently quoting delivery times of 1.5 to 2 weeks. And that work is on pause until it arrives...

Then I decided to fit a water cooler to my main PC's CPU. It had arrived by courier this morning and it looked to be a fairly easy job, but I wanted to use some super-duper thermal paste during assembly that I'd bought a while ago; it was quite expensive stuff and I really wanted to use it on this job, rather than the nondescript stuff that came with the cooler. I'd been moving the tube of paste from one place to another for weeks, and had put in a safe place. And, or course, I'd forgotten where that safe place was. After moaning to the wife, she said "have you looked in that drawer where all the other computer stuff lives?". I replied "yes, twice"... but I went and totally emptied the drawer. There it was lurking at the very back!

At least one job got done today...

Tell me about it. Been prevaricating over rustproofing the hairdressers.
Finally took all the plastic under arch, under tray bits off and jet washed it only to find the oil cooler was weeping.
Ordered a new cooler assuming it had 1/2" BSP connectors.
Offered it up today after fabricating new brackets etc. for the fricking threads to not mate.
Can't understand it - original & new males take a 15mm Conex fitting (same as 1/2" - correct?) and both threads are 1.75 according to my thread guage - am I missing something?

glad i am not the only one, i decided to tidy my garden, cut the grass no problemo, trimmed some foliage growing up the side of the house and cut through the hose to my outside tap, no probs i have a spare length in the airing cupboard, not only was that the wrong diameter but my hot water cylinder has decided to take a leak

Today, to alleviate the boredom, I plumbed in a radiator in the garage, that I have had for about 10 years, that was left
outside my Daughters house when she had a new central heating system put in her house

I had in stock all the pipe, valves olives etc etc,

its all fine, plumbing is excellent, f in g radiator as a pin hole that squirted water out all over the place

so that was a waste of another day,

I've tried 3 times today to fit the Fiestas gearbox and the bloody thing won't go on! Only my monk like self control has prevented me kicking the sh#t out it.....

I had the same problem with a mk3 escort, took me days to get it back on, as lining it all up and with the driveshaft, I found was impossible with out about 4 hands, and ive only got two!

In the end I took the o/s driveshaft off as well, also, made up a couple of locator dowls, that went into the block that the gearbox
went over, and while sliding the box on, turned the crankshaft, the box slid on then, put a few bolts in and take the two dowls out
