Pica is an interesting phenomenon. Classically occurs in pregnancy but can see when someone is withdrawing and determined not to consume the thing the body is missing other things might be ingested.

Quite sad really. Just glad he's ok as I'm sure he could have easily died from that in many nasty ways. You hear of a lot of mental health problems recently especially related to covid. Although this seems to have been triggered by trying to be healthier.
