I got a notification today that my subscription payment had been cancelled, the website was down and then it was confirmed by them in a Facebook post that the current August issue is the last one. A great loss of a really good magazine.
Yes, sad news indeed.
It has been getting harder and harder to come by in the shops.
I’ll certainly miss reading it. Don’t think there’s anything else out there that I’d fancy moving to.
It would help many to use the full name not a TLA
So - I am guessing - Practical Perfomance Car magazine maybe???
TLA = three letter acronym

Unsurprising really, mainstream print media is dying, niche print media is dead

The never finished the supercharged x flow or the Quattro
Sadly the price went up and the content went down. I hate all this on line stuff, liking a hard copy to pick up when I want. Mind you I am over 70 so still old school!!!

I would trend to agree, my first thought was Pre Payment Certificate for prescriptions. then it was Pay Per Click.
Just Saying.
JGG
Haven't bought magazines for a long time now. Occaisionally bought one if going on holiday, but that was it.
PPC was one of the only ones I'd have a gander through in WH Smith. Even that I've not done for quite some time though.
Eldest son who's big into MTBs subscribes to MBUK magazine. I've flicked throuh a couple, but they're 75% adverts these days. And I
suspect the articles are manufacturer led and funded too.

TLA = three letter acronym
An acronym is a pronouncable word consisting of the initials or major consecutive parts of other words - as in laser, NATO, radar, COBOL, scuba etc. etc. BBC, usb, FBI, DVLA et al are not acronyms - they are initialisms.

TLA is more typically read as three letter abbreviation.
Do VAT tax and VIN number wind you up too?

Oh yes... the redundant word at the end really annoys me! I used to proof-read documents as part of my job, and stuff like that yanks my chain...

I believe "proofread" is one word, no hyphen required

And that includes our local newspaper! Full of mistakes
The daftest one is www.
It takes longer to say double U, double, U, double U, than it does to say World Wide Web. Crazy.....

tla: three latter acronym
etla: extended three letter acronym
fetla: further extended three letter acronym
but why do "VIN Number's" contain letters?
Subbed to Motorpunk magazine, now deceased. Subbed to PPC, now deceased.
Can't be doing with electronic/kindle format so I'm not sure what to read now.
I'll miss PPC a lot. Very grateful that I met my best friend over ten years ago as he was wearing a PPC tshirt and I went up to have a chat.

I've pronounced that as 'dubdubdub' before. This is what I love about LCB, this thread has wandered off into the weeds in a pleasant way
Of course our very own Owelly was a contributor to PPC magazine many times IIRC.
Just checked his profile and he's not posted since 2019. I hope all is well!
