...seems to be the way it is on here!

Were you wanting to talk about something mind-boggling-leeeeeee amazing?

or

Did you have a question to stretch the LCB brain cell?

roadrunner - 8/9/25 at 02:29 PM

It's due to the fact that, all the ones still left on here already know everything

LOL, I wish that were true, I'm way off the level of knowledge of others on here

Personally I've been getting my head down and getting the car finished. I said to myself in April that there was only a couple of weeks work to do, now we're in September and there's only a couple of weeks work to do...

jacko - 8/9/25 at 05:21 PM

No question really. But if the forum does not get used I can see it sliding into the pit of doom and disappear for ever

I joined in 2004 and been part of every day life while building my MK / using it then trying to help others after selling my car on the forum
Let’s keep it going if we can
Graham

bi22le - 8/9/25 at 08:15 PM

yeah, this is a shame. Like the pubs, if we dont use it then it will disappear.

I feel bad though. I have been asking questions and trying to solve problems. I just use the dedicated FB groups. So at the moment I am hammering the Toyota 4age and MaxxECU groups. Happy to post the same questions here and give people the chance if they want?!?

I'll have lots to share soon as I'm back on with my Avon after not touching it for about 18 years!
Since then I have greatly increased my armoury of tooling so there will be so interesting parts to show I'm making from scratch.

Fuel tank
Exhaust manifold
Inlet manifold
Windscreen surround and frame.

Im even going to make my own fuel injection throttle bodies from scratch.

The information in will need though is stuff like what fuel pump to use ( high pressure) I'm going make the fuel tank with built in swirl pot. All from aluminium and TIG welded.

My car currently sits on my two post lift and because the car has such low ground clearance I've decided to make a an F1 style quick lift jack to lift it on to the arms of the 2 post lift. Its currently at the powder coaters but I'm collecting it in the morning so ill share some photos if some can tell me how to upload them. ( i can't remember how to as it was years ago since I last uploaded any)

Partofthechaos - 9/9/25 at 07:36 AM

I use the forum a fair bit, but mostly for reference. Most of my questions have already been asked so are already here somewhere. Currently I am here to find the part number for the Mazda 6 clutch slave cylinder used with the RX8 gearbox when attached to an AJ30. I know it will be here somewhere!

I do plan to do a build diary here which will be my main content contribution, but I will IVA it first. I am paranoid that I will have done something wrong and VOSA / DVLA sniff about and I will have made life difficult for myself.

Slater - 9/9/25 at 08:26 AM

yes, I've been on here since 2005 maybe? lurked for a bit, then got a £50 Sierra + kit in 2006, built it and done 19,000 miles since, doing the odd upgrades along the way. All with the help of this forum. I would not have even attempted to start it without finding this site! I'm on here most days and answer any questions where I can. I'd be gutted if it shut down, but I fear it could happen one day. Let's try and keep it alive.

I've recently made a custom phone holder for my kit, for navigation purposes, it's not quite finished, but I'll post a few pics on separate thread soon.

Compared to some other car forums, well, the sensible ones, this forum is buzzing.
I have joined the GTM owners forum, and they have probably one post per week, on a good one

nick205 - 9/9/25 at 09:19 AM

2002 for me.

Busy initially, but much quieter now.

I've built my MK Indy and no without a garage.

Other things going on.

Still visit here to see what people are asking / chatting about.

Hi All

In my opinion I think what would make this forum better is if people could post photos easier
This is one thing that bugs me and stops me posting photos
Keep posting please
Graham

May well be true.

Personally I don't post from my phone only my PC and don't find it that hard.
If I was posting from my phone (in the garage) I may find it more annoying.

fazerruss - 9/9/25 at 02:36 PM

How do you post photos?

I was going through one of the many bookcases - we're having a clear out and I came across Chris Gibbs Build Yourself a Sportscar and thought

Aahhh, I could build another

Good on you
I have the same book too + others like build a car for £250 etc

Mike Wood - 18/9/25 at 04:34 PM

This is still a great forum but does need a bit more traffic.

I am about to get my project underway (bought a rolling chassis that needs more panelling some years back)

Cheers
Mike
