Well,what a coincidence.

Mark Allanson - 8/4/05 at 10:04 PM

Your not suggesting.... No you can't be..

Josmith123, in some way connected with ARA RACING

Perish the thought

robinbastd - 8/4/05 at 10:23 PM

Far from it Mark, you old cynic.

I was astounded that someone looking for such an unusual car as the DBR2 should post a request in a forum dedicated to building locosts and then receive a reply that there was one being launched.

Honest.

Mark Allanson - 8/4/05 at 10:35 PM

Ah, I see

ARA RACING must be incredibly astute to be able to anticipate a demand for such a rare car in advance, I bet josmith123 is delighted that they have come to his rescue

I just love it when a plan comes together

(feint smell of cigar smoke)

robinbastd - 8/4/05 at 10:39 PM

Gosh.
Perhaps you'd know where you could buy smutty gifts online?

Not so feint smell of Golden Virginia.

Mark Allanson - 8/4/05 at 10:49 PM

I wonder if anyone has registered 'smuttygifts' as a website for people to buy humourus and unusual gifts?

Perhaps we should all take a look and see?

Or should we continue the search for an Aston Martin DBR2 Replica?

gazza285 - 8/4/05 at 11:30 PM

Now, now. I'm sur ARA RACING are not up to such tricks, They assured me so after this thread http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/viewthread.php?tid=22673

Hallo Guys ,

I saw your discussion about the Aston Martin DBR2 Replica. I bought one at ARA Racing but i can´t say anything good about that company. Be carefull with that don´t send money to them these guys do frauds. I bought parts send the money but nothing was shipped just lies answers i´m running after my money now for over 5 Month. As i offered an Offence to the Police about ARA Racing and Anthony Anstead they just answer via mail ( Andi the World did not stop turning without your money ) .

So these guys do frauds and should not be in that business .

Be carefull do not work with them.
A.G.

Confused but excited. - 2/4/07 at 09:49 PM

I notice ARA RACING hasn't bothered to REGISTER AS A TRADER!
As far as I am aware these will only be sold as turn key cars and not kits. Or so the blurb on his web site went last year.
He used to produce Locost bits. I got a very nice ali tank off him, but had to send the bones, trailing arms and panhard rod back.
For those of you that don't know Ant, he told me that he was an ex-policeman, studying law, and the Locost parts that he sold, were out-sourced and sold by him and that he gave that up to concentrate on the Aston..........

Andi G - 3/4/07 at 02:02 PM

Yes after i read all reports about ARA Racing from the past, i saw this happend not the first time that Anthony Anstead and ARA Racing do a crime like this.

I saw the first comments are 2 Years ago, i´m just wondering why they can be still in the business.

I lost 170 pounds but i don´t give up, have been at the Police already to report an offence against Ara Racing and Anthony Anstead.I´ve someone has the same problems let me know.

Jonte - 25/6/07 at 07:16 PM

any news?

A S Motorsport Ltd - 7/1/09 at 05:59 PM

Hi,

I just dug up this thread whilst doing some Google research.

I am not surprised by the allegations of fraud against Mr Anstead. I have met quite a few unhappy customers and have heard some interesting stories...

To bring the storey up to date a bit.

ARA Racing ceased trading in 2007 but before their demise I negotiated the purchase of the rights and moulds to the DBR project as well as some stock. I also undertook to finish a part built alloy car and as a result I have detailed knowledge of the way ARA threw their cars together.

I set up A S Motorsport Ltd in 2007 to build and market the DBR replica. Further details are available at www.asmotorsport.co.uk

Regards,

Andrew Soar

David Jenkins - 7/1/09 at 06:05 PM

Very pretty - I bet that's not cheap though!

A S Motorsport Ltd - 7/1/09 at 06:43 PM

Prices start from £40000 for a finished car using a Jaguar XK 3.4 manual as a basis.

Available in any colour as long as it is green.

Jonte - 7/1/09 at 09:20 PM

and I still want one

DarrenW - 7/1/09 at 09:33 PM

Best start a new thread Andrew. Riding on the back of a dodgy thread seems, errrrr, dodgy to me if you know what i mean.

A S Motorsport Ltd - 8/1/09 at 12:33 PM

I know what you mean about the dodgy thread business but that is why I registered to straighten out the storey a bit. I wished to make it clear that there is no connection between myself and ARA / Mr Anstead apart from the fact that I purchased the moulds etc. (not the business).
Most forum's are a bit touchy about self promotion by manufacturers and specialists. So I don't think it would be appropriate for me to start a new thread.

Thanks for your interest and comments.

Andrew.

DIY Si - 8/1/09 at 05:30 PM

As long as you sign up as a trader, you can blag away! That's what the extra status is for, so you can offer services and so on.

Simon - 8/1/09 at 08:18 PM

And you'll be able to justify that by giving us a 90% discount

Very, very nice by the way!

ATB

Simon

A S Motorsport Ltd - 20/9/12 at 08:20 PM

In hindsight, I wish to retract the comments made about ARA Racing and wish Ant Anstead every success with his new business.

Andrew Soar.

loggyboy - 20/9/12 at 08:32 PM

You cant retract 3 year old comments just like that with no justification!

daniel mason - 20/9/12 at 08:41 PM

one of the worst threads ive ever read on this forum. what a waste of time
