I'm using the above to clean the crude from some engine parts pistons etc,
I've noticed that around the rim of the piston there is a build up of white foam? Has anyone else used this stuff before.

It's doing a great job the pistons are like new just wondering if it will affect the metal.

All depends on whether it contains caustic soda (sodium hydroxide?) - 'cos that eats aluminium!

I've used JIF (now CIF) spray to good effect on cleaning pistons etc

Gasket stripper is excellent for cleaning piston ring grooves which can be a sod as anyone who has done it will tell you , also great for decoking heads and valves with no effort .
