I've just seen this on t'ebay and it got me thinking.
Call me mad but I quite like the 70's styling and the side profile.
I know Duttons have a terrible reputation, but presumably the engineering behind (or underneath) them must be sound to have sold so many? I mean do
they handle OK, or could they be made to handle with new springs / shocks and modern tyres?
It's got a 2ltr Pinto on board at the moment, but would it take more power, say a 2 ltr zetec or something even bigger, maybes with a turbo?
Can you tell I am looking for a new winter project?
Anyway Link Here

I love my dutton S3 its great fun for the money, its overtaken westies at Llandow in the wet, but i've only gotta 1.6 pinto, they had a zetec
& a vx : ). I dont know much about the Cantera but it was for sale on the dutton owners web site. Pretty sure it can handle more power thou,
theres quite a few V8 dutts about Some pics of mine in my archive if you wanna look

This is my friend's Dutton. Pretty - no. Effective - yes.

Ive MOT d my brothers today almost
passed with flyin colours just had to bolt
down a floating st/rack. As to true Duttoneering she broke down on way back from retest....i can smell petrol no i can smell
lots a petrol POP POP BLrrrrrr, main fuel pipe
fell off carb two mins back on the road.. I HAVE HUNDREDS of stories about the beast!
eeek, i like it as well - sort of capri front end and nice chopped rear .........
hmmm, a seven for winter ?
its a VERY rare Cantera, only 6 were ever made and thats 1 of only 4 known still going.
Its a Dutton malaga/b+ (which is roughly a phaeton series 1 & 2) chassis underneath so will accept a variety of different engine's and
drivetrains.
It's a super, mega fugly.
Triumph Herald / Spitfire front suspension. Ford Cortina MkI or II rear axle with 4 link arrangement and Lotus 7 rear coil spring/shock absorber unit, later replaced with Hillman Imp front units. Is this right Mr G ??
Cheers Guys,
Mike R, that's exactly what I saw, a shortened Capri!
Thanks for the responses, but as its so rare, I think I'd better leave it alone. People might get upset if I started messing around with it.
Mike
email Hicost as he had a very unhealthy desire to be a dutton owner a couple of years ago
