Can anyone tell me if there are any differences between a standard J reg 106 shell and a XSI shell. If there are any, what are they.

hmmmmmm, sorry this looks like its a post in the wrong place, you need to find a pug forum matey. we know the difference between an MK chassis and a Luego chassis if thatl help...............

chrisg - 20/2/03 at 09:59 PM

The XSI won't have a switch to turn the front fogs off!

Sorry don't know mate.

Cheers

Chris

philgregson - 20/2/03 at 10:13 PM

Does one have a compartment for hair dryer and tongs, and the other not?

Phil

Wadders - 20/2/03 at 10:20 PM

I think you'll find they both have that compartment, difference is on the SXi it lights up blue when you open the door

From memory the rear arches are slightly different to accomodate the wheels/arch extensions.

PGAC - ask that bunch.

sooty - 21/2/03 at 07:47 PM

Thanks for your constructive replies. A complete waste of time, why bother with this Forum!!

Marcus - 21/2/03 at 08:28 PM

Couldn't agree more.
Why bother?
I bother because I'm building a LOCOST.......read my lips L..O..C..O..S..T
Does that spell Peugeot?
I think not.
Marcus
ps saying that, there are lots of car nuts on here into Locosts AND Humdrums. So that's me sitting on the fence again!!

Metal Hippy™ - 21/2/03 at 09:44 PM

I'm with Marcus, but more blunt...

If you wanna ask questions about a Peugeot chassis, go find a Peugeot forum.

This forum does exactly what it says on the tin.

Don't like it? F*ck off.

All the best....

ChrisW - 21/2/03 at 11:38 PM

Watch it - I've got a Peugeot! 306 Cabby tho, not a 106! Don't know the answer to the question though.

Chris

You might be interested in one of my old sites tho (although it's had nothing done on it since we all grew up!) www.speedcentral.co.uk

Metal Hippy™ - 21/2/03 at 11:41 PM

That's got a lot more style than a 106 XSI but that still doesn't mean he shouldn't try posting car modifying questions in a forum dedicated to that stuff.

This one blatently isn't....

RoadkillUK - 22/2/03 at 11:18 AM

Sooty, don't want to be rude but if you have a look around in the messages, you will see that this website is for people who are building Lotus 7 replicas. It's not a Max Power site at all.

You don't have to leave, you just have to buy a lot of 1" square tube and an old escort and 'the book'

Just out of interest, what did you think this Forum was about?

Oh, and I have a Pug too 405 GTD turbo.

sooty - 22/2/03 at 04:36 PM

Building a rally/rallycross car.

Mark Allanson - 22/2/03 at 06:11 PM

To put you out of your misery, I looked at the computer at work, most of the part numbers are the same except fot the engine and box pick up points (bound to be different), the roof is different, but I think this is down to sunroof options.

johnston - 22/2/03 at 07:05 PM

if your buildin a rally car go for one of the ex 106 cup cars will work out cheaper in the long run than buildin 1 from scratch and most are still in fairly good nick

and for record i ave a 205gti

chrisg - 22/2/03 at 07:21 PM

To be fair I think this topic would have gone better in the "anything else" section, as most don't mind answering general motoring questions, except me as I don't know anything!

The Chassis section is for Locost chassis really.

Cheers

Chris

ChrisW - 22/2/03 at 07:32 PM

Do you work at a Pug garage then Mark? Any chance of getting hold of some 2000 spec lights from a 306?

Mark Allanson - 22/2/03 at 08:52 PM

The bodyshop that I work for is Pug (amongst others) Approved, I have access to all kinds of boring tintop stuff, some is OK for locosts, I have a book of line drawings for all kinds of rads, with dimensions in mm's, suspension catalogs with part number qualifiers so you can tell which other cars use the same dangly bits, Hyundai stella, all part nos for front suspension are the same as Cortina!

Pug 306 headlamps, I can get 15% disc new, sometimes we have slightly damaged ones of repairables.

Perhaps the worms go on a hook with a line and a sinker...................

PS just got my emails, somebody on TOL called a naughty word 74635 times, without stopping to draw breath!!!!!!!!! Boy they get cross easily

Considerably - 23/2/03 at 12:23 PM

You're going are you?

I'd like to say we'll miss you, but I couldn't lie so blatently!

Terry

Considerably - 23/2/03 at 12:40 PM

Aww, shucks. You guys say the nicest things.

But, yes, I do feel the end is nigh....seing as I only came along to say "Oi, lay off the Caterham owners" ... and instead have ended up being hailed as the anti-christ.

chrisg - 23/2/03 at 06:07 PM

Bye then.

Cheers

Chris

BTW on a completely unrelated topic, you know that Yahoo groups have a Locost theory group, Locost North america group and a Locost Oz group, you could do the rounds, and visit us once in a while, like the black death or a tropical hurricane.

In that case you would possibly appreciate how eminately suitable for fitting into a locost the handbrake lever et al is from the 106/205 models, as I mentioned in another post.

Enjoy.

jcduroc - 26/2/03 at 09:50 PM

Is there any reason preventing you {Oh mighty webmaster} to "rearrange" the posts?
Many of them seem to need to be so!

Joăo

jcduroc - 26/2/03 at 10:39 PM

Webmaster

Haven't you banned this guy yet?
Will he manage to annoy everyone in every list there is?
Ignore him (quote Steve the Swede) or ban him!...

Joăo

sooty - 3/3/03 at 10:35 PM

Why hasn't the site got any info of whats its all about.

A 'lowcost', what is a lowcost, a plastic model with a interchangable bodyshells and a two stroke engine, remote controlled by big boys.

It would save a of time for everyone if they knew, who the website is for.

robinbastd - 4/3/03 at 12:03 AM

Isn't the picture of the car in the top right hand corner a bit of a clue?

Metal Hippy™ - 4/3/03 at 12:50 AM

People that know what a LOCOST is know what this forum is for.

Anyone else can look at the pictures or read one or two posts to find out.

Not difficult at all.

Mark H - 4/3/03 at 09:53 AM

To be fair to sooty, locost as a term can be fairly confusing/wide ranging. Perhaps a description of what we do IS a good idea.

Of course, most people on this site know, but if a waif or stray walks into the site, perhaps a slightly more polite way of saying wrong site mate may be appropriate(As has been mentioned here, and some links have been given out).

It wasn't like he was taking the pi55 out of us like other "visitors".

I don't want this site to disappear up its own ass, like others do/have. Try to remember Time BL - Before Locost (I know its hard, but try).

Kin ell man, i sound like a right grump. Sooty, with a bit of encouragement, might get into Caterhams, Westies, locosts, even a RHood, whatever.

Better than a tin top I'd say?

Give the guy a break, man. So ends the sermon.
