does anybody know the size of the fuel tanks supplied by dax/locost, DAX are charging £195+VAT for their, does anybody know where i can get one cheaper?

Most locost tanks are 6 (majority) or 8 gallons at most.

I am havin one made locally-£20 for material (Ally), and £50 for welding all made to my dimensions 800x345x215mm, havent worked out the capacity yet but its more than the off the shelf ones.I want a good range for me sunday blasts!!!

ps Made a wooden frame in these dims to check i can physically get it in the car before being fabricated

Hector, I make that as:

800x345x215 Cubic mm.

1cu mm = 1x10(to the minus6) litres

So 59340000 cu mm divided by 1,000,000 = 59.34 Litres.
Divide by 4.55 =13.04 Gallons.

Seems a Lot to me. My maths is good, but I may have the conversions wrong.
Size of tank is correct. and 4.55 litres in a Gallon is correct.
I got the Litre conversion from the net, and it seems right, ie 1000000 cu mm = 1 Litre.

I might get one made for mine, as I have gone through a tankful.. just running the motor in the Garage....

PS... Also a full tank is going to put approx 130Lb / 60kg (ish) over the back end. Thats a fair weight.

does anybody know of any companies that will produce tank, im running twin 40 webers so will the tank have to be baffled, if yes, will the manufacturer do this?

DAX charge £227.95 (inc VAT) for a baffled aliminium tank, dont want to pay that much!

im afraid thats the pitfalls of building a dax try ali-fab he will make you 1 up bespoke cheaper

with an unbaffled tank on track, you need to keep it more than half full really. I bust one pump through surge. On the road, its not needed really.

One alternative is to run a 500cc swirl pot under the bonnet, constantly filled by a low pressure pump with a return to the main tank. Obviously this needs risk assessing first though.
