Just got back. Games are not region locked so no problem. Films are so i can only play region 3. This is not a problem as it is cheaper to buy std DVD's and convert them to MP4 then save on the memory stick. I saved approx £50 on the value pack buying in HK. Also got extended battery, 1 gb card and speaker dock for just over £200. Im well chuffed with it so far. Imagine how narked i was tho that i couldnt get an english game to play on the 12hour flight home!!!! Cant wait for next trip away - Music, games, videos etc to mess about with.

if your firmware is version 2.0 or less then you can copy games to that 1gb stick abd save you even more money!

Edit: gah! cannot spell anymore!

I have to say i continue to be amazed by the PSP. Now have 4 albums on it (as a ripping trial from my CD collection). Music downloads are very easy.

Iam not a game player but have been enjoying Need for speed most wanted so far. Reason for buying is that i now have a complete entertainment system when travelling. The only downside i have encountered so far when taking dog for a walk is the size of the unit and the std earphones keep dropping out. I can buy different ear phones and make allowances for size due to the additional features on board.
Video downloads arent as user friendly but once you suss it out are easy enough. Sony have a couple of sites to guide you through - i found PSPconnect to be useful.
Ultimately i intand to have a memory card for music, one for videa, one for pictures and UMD's for games.
The Logic3 speaker dock is also a great little unit and has a handy carry case.

I now need to learn about bit rates and optimum compression and also maybe how to convert PC games to PSP format so i can download to the memory stick (id like to save my PC version of Toca onto memory card - any advice?).

they are good, and impressive but i don't like the fact that to use it for games u have to buy new ones, even if u have them already as they require smaller discs!

admittly if u used the normal size then thing would be huge! but i am not a game player so would buy something that has just as good screen but instead has an 65gb hard drive inside so u can transfer all ur music and films across and series of the simpson whatever and play them to ur hearts content!

my housemate has one and i am jealous!
