New Generation of MP3?
Hellfire - 14/3/06 at 08:34 AM

Has anyone noticed a new batch of MP3 lately... they play in the latest version of WINAMP but when I come to burning them with NERO6 or NERO7 there is an error stating unrecognised file. I've tried converting them into a different kpbs with no luck.

Maybe it has been watermarked somehow for security purposes... the album it occurs on is Corinne Bailey Rae - her debut album. Wanted to listen before I bought it, which I'm popping out to do incedentally as it is so good! Nice bit of blues/r&b to chill the soul!

They are probably security protected, it is possible to protect files when you rip them yourself.

From what I understand, protecting MP3s makes it impossible to burn them to CD (no doubt theres a way around it), but possible to play them on different computers.

Got that in my mp3 collection, didn't have a problem ripping it from cd and burning it.
If you wanted to listen to all of it before buying then let me know

If you want to pre view tracks you can listen to 30 seconds on each track at iTunes store. You will need to download iTunes obviously but it is by far the best mp3 player i have come accross.

yep that definalty sounds like the tracks are protected. it is quite common nowadays. there is no easy way around it that i know of. apart from sourcing the songs elsewhere.

itunes is good, but i wouldn't use it as most of my music is in wma format which itunes won't support. my housemate has an ipod and has had fun converting all his music so it will work with itunes.

having said that, the podcasts that itunes allows u to use are very good and i would reccomend it if u are just starting to use mp3's.

I've got itunes on all of my 3 macs and it makes life sooooo much easier! You can wirelessly share music without even thinking about it and I've never had a problem burning CDs of it....Oli.
