Un-ethical selling!!
SALAD - 26/3/06 at 06:23 PM

Without wanting to disrupt the pleasant air the forum has, I needed to vent somewhere!
Correct me if I'm wrong but, if you are selling something on here and are accepting offers, the first person in contact has first refusal and should be given the opportunity to better any subsequent offers that may be made?

You don't then, accept an offer, agree postage costs and method, to then turn around and say 'sorry sold' to someone else without giving that first person an opportunity to better the new offer, do you?!
Then added to that, then you don't respond to any messages and delete the 'for sale' thread so as to hide what went on!

Not naming names as, at the moment, it is beneath me, just a warning to others out there....it's NOT the way to do things.

SALAD - 26/3/06 at 06:33 PM

Exactly!
That is the way I have sold things and have been sold to on here.
Funny, for a split second there I thought I MUST have got it wrong!!

Just to add a note: re-reading Chris' post it could be percieved that the situation had involved him. This is not the case and Chris had nothing to do with what went on.
Thank you for your reply Chris.

That's how selling should be done on a forum.
If you want to auction it go here

Always first come, first agreed, gets it.

That's how it should be.

Rich.

I agree thats the way it should work, ie read u2u. Things may come up that do take priority over car building (not many I know) which means they maybe cannot respond to posts as quickly as they normaly would, so I think the idea of a "Read" u2u is fair and the way to go, I do think there needs to be a time limit set though which probably needs some thought, 3 days possibly.

similar sort of thing happened to me last week, but thought lifes too short and moved on. search on my username should work for the nosey

See Ya

Rich

I reckon is completely down to the seller who they sell something to, unless they have agreed to sell to someone and then pulled out and sold to someone else which is clearly unacceptable.

fesycresy - 26/3/06 at 07:09 PM

Go on, name names.

It's not beneath you, dish the dirt. Go on, you know you want to.

SALAD - 26/3/06 at 07:11 PM

Agree Rich that there should be a time limit. However, this all occured within 10mins at most, via u2u messages! Then the for sale thread was deleted.
It just annoyed me, I wouldn't have started this post if I wasn't just being ignored!
Like I said, I haven't named names, this gives the opportunity to rectify the situation.
It may be that I don't wish to pay what it went for, but to not be given the chance, I don't think is on.

Jon Ison - 26/3/06 at 07:11 PM

If a sale is agreed then it ought to be a deal, just like if you post something too another member in good faith before payment is received because there in a rush for it you'd expect them too return the favour by paying for it ??

you know who you are.

JoelP - 26/3/06 at 07:13 PM

Indeed. Its first come first served, and once you agree, its a done deal.

SALAD - 26/3/06 at 07:28 PM

Just have to wait and see what happens, not holding out much hope though!

Many moons ago, Alez offered me the full asking price for the "Isonblade" when I put it up for sale, I was later offered substantially more, Alez drove the car away, what he did with it next is history.
