Been at brands this weekend (absolutely knackered now with the other running around end of last week!!) and had a cracking time.
Spannering for a Radical SR3 team, this was the first meeting that we had any chance of getting anywhere at, and we ended up not a million miles off
the pace (running low 47's)
I learnt a lot, through being dropped in at the deep end (apparently I am now the "telemetry man", having sussed how it all works, and also
the tyre man, having spent some time chatting to Dunlop sorting temps etc)
We managed to finish the second race, having got in a bit of a tangle in the first and ripped a tyre off, and the day ended on a big up!
We were as quick as anybody into, through, and initially out of, the corners, but seem to be lacking power on the straights, plus we need to actually
try some damper settings as they are still just chucked on really.
great fun and looking forward to the next meeting!
That sounds like a great thing to get involved with. I'd love to do something like that - how did you get the opportunity??
My brother's girlfriend's dad is running the car, was running it in Britsports but has moved to the Radical-Dunlop Radical Enduro
Challenge.
We went to watch them at Silverstone a while back, and they had a bit of a nightmare day. Seeing I could be of some help I did my usual and poked my
nose in in the pits and got my hands dirty on an uninvited basis
Got asked to come and help out if I had the time following that day!
You didn't convert him to grassing? Must try harder
Tried my hardest but don't think he's into that sort of thing!
He's a pretty serious driver, used to do very well in FF and got some very good results, incl beating one N.Mansell!!
Real shocker at Brands was how quick the Radicals are. They were running the EuroBOSS F1 cars there, and the top Radicals were only 1.5-2.5 secs
behind them!!!
I think the chequebooks may be bigger than the talent in the EuroBOSS racing??? Could be wrong but it looked like a playground for the very rich!!
My mate was spannering for one of the Cooper S Minis racing this weekend.
He said the EuroBoss' were amazing, they might be toys for the rich, but i bet they sounded amazing! There must be quite a difference between the
top EuroBoss cars and the slowest as they some are 5 year or so old F1 cars and they you have older F3 cars racing too.
Hes got some good pics from the pitwall though, will put them up when i get a chance.
Might have seen me there then! I was on the wall looking nervous with the radio headset and pitboard for the Tilley/Bailey driven yellow SR3!!!
The mini challenge chaps had nice garages, we just chucked our stuff in front of them as we had to make do without garages!
What team was he with? we had a bit of banter with a couple of the mini chaps, one of the drivers new grahame (one of the drivers, quite well)
PS yes the F1 cars sounded awesome, but they did look extremely slow, even the top ones were nowhere near as quick as I would have expected.

My mate works for Mini and a few of the people there run a team, i think the drivers name is Carl Bradley.
Ill get some photos up later today, there is a couple of the radicals i think too. What colour was the car you were running?
Yellow, with a dayglo pinky/orange top on the rollbar moulding to identify it. Got black and green square "geosynthetics" graphics on it as well.
