What do you prefer to wear for cold / damp weather, and as protective clothing.
What about helmets, etc.
I have no windscreen or even an aero screen, and was showered with a load of fine stones by a cow in a BMW who cut me up and then stuck her foot down. (I'm running in so didnt give chase!)

Just want some pointers to makes /names, styles, good / bad points (and makes). ie what to avoid and why, and whats good or good and cheap etc. including bike helmets.

on old WW2 brown leather jacket, matching hat and a scarf with a coat hanger in it to make it look like your flying

bike helmet with your car mate

especially as your a member of the dark side

so in that case it needs a blacked out visor aswell

you can get a Jet fighter helmet like mine for about £89

with a flick down black visor behind the clear visor pretty wicked

or top end ROOF helmets £289

Running the car in my Avanta

Usuall just my old Crag hoppers waterproof jackey ( so not bothered about getting a bit of oil on it in case of the odd hickups ). Carry waterproof trousers

Windproof and waterproof, velcro sleves and high colar are all apreciated.

Helmet is my old full face helmet but carried mainly for anti bug and anywhere I am likley to be following lorries or incase of wet weather.

Used my helmet last night by the time I got home a good 35 minutes later you can't see through the visor due to suashed bugs. but passed the 500 mile mark so stopped watching the tacho as much and oppened her up !!.

Possing just wear my sun glasses.

if i pop down the town or wont be going over 50 then i wear shades or safety specs (depending on light), fleece hat (tight fit) and cover arms up if its warm / wear coat if cold. If very warm dont bother with hat but bugs etc do hurt the forehead!!!

If im going farther or faster then defo helmet. Ive got a Nitro Racing N800V. It has the gold badge. Cheap. Quite stylish and give sufficient protection in a car for stones, bugs, rain. If i was a biker id probs buy a better one. Ive got a Rockport rain jacket that i keep for driving - cheap in the sales but has good rain protection. I may go for a bikers jacket or similar in the future.

Apart from the bone dome, you need two things stuffed behind your seats.

A one-piece wind proof/water proof motorbike "baby-grow".......

and a shammy leather, to wipe the nasty water off your lovely stainless.

Forgot to mention, if im travelling any distance or if its cold i also have one if those silk bikers scarves that is like a polo neck. Its great for pulling up around chin to stop the wind from entering bottom of helmet and freezing your eyeballs Im also thinking of getting a thin silk balaclava - keeps head warmer and easier to wash than the helmet lining.

I have a hill walking jacket which is windproof upto 60 MPH. A crash helmet and waterproof gloves keep the wind and rain out as well. I've found that if you drive when its raining that your knees don't get too wet but water can collect in your seat

I can't walk anywhere near that fast especially uphill. Fleece and bobble hat with some workshop glasses or shades usually. I'm in need of some earplugs to keep the wind roar down a bit and I keep some waterproofs handy if it looks like rain.

With the COMPLETE LACK of mudflaps fitted to cars nowadays - you'd be MAD not to wear a helmet.

A stone at 60-70mph in the face can have tragic consequences!

As others have said - usual wet weather gear

LOL Pete - I think it means winds that have a speed of 60mph

It can protect against the wind blowing into the jacket at 60mph

Some or all of the following:

Flying helmet style hat + goggles if not going too far/fast

Shark bike helmet (£55) for longer distances

fleece neck warmer tube - £3.95 from skiing shop

silk balaclava for winter (£5 from motorbike shop)

Motorbike gloves long enough to cover sleeve cuffs

Locost fleece (Result R16 with waterproof/windproof lining), optionally with another fleece underneath

Old fleece with arms cut off and armholes sewn up to cover legs when it's cold

Waterproof cagoule + trousers in boot

i just wear one or two jumpers face mask and sun glasses as i don't drive it and maybe a hat

Bash hat regardless of weather (though may get some goggles this w/end).

Scorching - shades/flipflops and swimming trunks
Sun out (warm) - t-shirt/jeans
Sun in - t-shirt/jeans maybe a sweatshirt
Cold - as above plus £15 coat from Matalan.
Very cold as above with Oxford neck thingy (one piece wraps around neck, cover above nose to bottom of neck and velcro fastening)
Freezing - as above with one piece bike waterproofs (unlined) which roll up very small.

Forgot to mention I also have a car squeegee thingy (like a windscreen wiper designed for drying car paintwork) that I use as a windscreen wiper
