I think i may have just been done by one of these, i was following a big van and not really concentrating, by the time i realised it was amber it was
too late, i never saw there was a camera until i looked in my mirror. It never seemed to flash.
What is the tolerance with these as it must have gone red less than 0.5 of a second before i went through it.
Also what is the fine and points for getting caught?
Cheers
eh? I understood amber was stop if possible, otherwsie continue - shouldn't be a problem unless it was on red.
I'm sure theres is some leaway even with red juding by the nymber of cars/vans etc: that go through on red.
in understand it to be £60 + 3 points and the insurance companies will love you for the next 5 years as they view it as you being willing to take
risks as a dangerous driver.
if you didn't see it flash then chances are it didn't and you'll be ok as they are pretty easy to see the flash as it's so bright.
good luck and keep them fingers crossed for the next couple of weeks when the postman comes.
I had one flash in London - it was proper red, but was following someone home.
It did flash and heard nothing about it! PHEW
Chances are you might get away with it

Chances are what you saw on top of the traffic signals was not in fact a camera, but an MVD (microwave vehicle detector). They are very similar
looking to a CCTV type camera.
Not many local authorities actually have red light cameras.
speed/red light camera locations

Im pretty sure oxford have them, there is one down the road from me and im 99% sure its a red light camera, the one i passed was a big grey box, i was
tempted to go round and have another look as i didnt get a great look at it.
Its not on that database, but then the one down the road isnt either, nor is the speed camera down the road, i might have to put them on there.
I got nobbled by one on December 29th it flashed... twice. The road was icy at the time and I noticed a few others (on my return) were being flashed.
Maybe the LA waived the rules or there were so many incidents caught they ran out of digital film (ah-hem
)
Wait until you get the producer... nothing you can do now!
