http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/viewthread.php?tid=46390
i still want one
dont u go to work anymore jonno?!
kinda turned up for a while today, its too sunny
this might not last for that long
bugatti veyron 0-100 5.5secs
and that was on a crap surface (figures from autocar 31/05/06)
would definately be interested to see its breaking figures given its extra weight
I'd pitch the ultima at the bugatti with no worries at all!!
Quite funny really, ultima running a pushrod carburettored engine and still quicker to 100 than the all singing all dancing bugatti (what the official
figures don't show for the ultima is that their quickest 0-100 run (not 0-100-0!) was 5.1 secs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) The new records
were set on a "crap surface" too and indeed between rain showers as well!........................bring it on!
One mag (can't remember which) put Kenneth hansen's 4wd rallycross supercar on slicks up against the ultima and the ultima caned it
completely into the weeds using road tyres!!!!
Personally I think it will be a VERY long time until anything can touch the ultima, especially as I know they are deliberately keeping the car simple
and low key at the mo..........................
The subject of a pair of vortech superchargers or turbos has been touched upon...........1200hp
Prob then is the std (and cheap) Porsche gearbox will break!
Quite simply there is NO car available anywhere in the world which has the same unique combination as the Ultima. VERY clever and judicious use of
components has resulted in a car which can be built cheaply, handles very well, but is ridiculously fast in a straight line and is pretty much
bulletproof reliable, mainly through being kept as simple as is humanly possible.
The train of thought is opposed to most volume manufacturers.........the process goes along the lines of "why make something from expensive
carbon fibre if you can just not make it at all and save even more weight/complexity"
The Bugatti, nice as it is, is an engineering nightmare of monstrous proportions, the car has grown into the usual untidily complex mixture of parts,
with a myriad of possibilities for going wrong, and a substantial weight penalty.

Just to show it really is a proper road car, here's a couple of pics from when we went camping at le mans in it last year (it is the record
holding car in the pics)
Ahh the comfort of a tent near a bin!

I duly stand corrected
was workin off the figures from the video
speaking of 1200hp cars, in the same autocar it is suggested that bugatti are goin to make an even more powerful version
<sigh>..... i can dream!
