removing silcone sealent from bodywork

Hi

I put a heat shield on for my sva on my arch

using sealent but now the sealent wont come off tried white spirit so far and warmed it up

no good
any ideas

i get my mate ian to do it when hes over, not sure how he does it though.

after a quick phone call to my mate, he uses wipes from the £££ shop there specially for that job so he tells me.

Get it outdoors first!
Get a cloth (old towel) soak in petrol and put over the offending area, keep it wetted, it normally reacts reasonably quickly, the silicone just gives up and can be removed with some light assistance.
Heat won't work.

as nick says there is a gel that you can buy from ceramic tile shop or diy place. should be fine on body work ive used it plastic baths and shower trays wih no problems

I agree with Raz, meths generally shifts silicon sealant.
