Bling Champagne, what to buy?
Mansfield - 16/6/06 at 07:23 PM

I want to buy a very non-locost bottle of very bling Champagne, Krug or Cristal type stuff, for a birthday present.

What do you suggest, and where would I find it?

Thanks, David.

What sort of money you looking to spend?

Beleive it or not the ASDA's own brand of champers is surprisingly palettable.....

Ok It's not bolly, but it is drinkable.

there are many well known names of champers, its best to get one you know and like rather than a specific one thats better than the others. Pick any well known one My mate always recommended verve cleuqot (sp...)

Laurent Perrier always goes down very very well!

Oh yes! Large Sainsbury's or a good wine merchants/off licence, prices start around £26 and goes up a lot dependant on the vintage, but the £26 one is very pleasant

If it is "flash looking" you're after ,then Cristal comes in a clear-glass bottle, looks quite "Bling"

More for bling impact than for taste. Looking at £100 upwards with a name.

I drink whatever is cheapest at ASDA, and lots of it too.

Thanks for the Lebonvin link, quite partial to this;

And Sheffield too - not that far away.

Dear, I know - but it is for a present.

Bought a crate of Asti Spumanti for our wedding, everybody there said that they would rather drink that than champange as it tasted better.

Fozzie - 16/6/06 at 08:46 PM

I personally go for taste, rather than price, but we are all different! As some people love Moet, I think its like vinegar!
Glad you are sorted!

If its a present anything other than champagne (ie prosecco, freixenet) wont do...go for Veuve Cliquot, its well known and not stupid money.

Martini & Rossi Asti Spumante was the best knee spreader a man could get in my younger days. And not expensive as well.

Cheers,
Syd.
