Alloy header tanks

hi all,

i was just thinking whether or not an alloy header tank will pass SVA or not, surely with an alloy header tank you cannot see you water lever, where you can with the plastic ones obviously, how would you know that your water is low, is it a case of just checking every time you go out or do you have to install a sensor like on the brake fluid reservoir?

Theres no requirement to see water level, nor oil or fuel level for that matter.

Fine for SVA - and just check it ocassionally

while having no water will make your engine overheat and possibly seize, it won't put you head long into a wall or hedge like a lack of brake fluid will.

if you have a radiator with expansion cap, you still can't see the water level, but it is expected to be checked with vehicle maintenance. it's not mission critical though, so needs no warning.
