Where to Park?
John P - 13/7/06 at 11:54 AM

Nothing to do with LoCosts but I often have to go out on business with colleagues and we normally try to meet up somewhere so we share a car for the majority of the journey.

Trouble is where to leave a car all day safely.

Motorway service areas are an obvious choice but they tend to restrict parking to 2-hours and I'm always a bit concerned about getting back to a big parking charge (or a clamp).

I wondered if it would be possible to use members local knowledge to somehow set up a database of recommended places.

It's probably impractical but I'd certainly find it very useful.

National Car Parks? Or are they too expensive?

As stated - try the Park and Ride car parks - they are often ludicrously cheap

OR - if you're really cheeky (like me) I would use TRAVELODGE / LITTLE CHEF car parks - constant stream of people and no clampers

John,

I often have to do the same thing - like suggestions above we look for out of town superstores. Never had any problems so far.

Supermarkets are best. I know of a few people that do it.
