Hi all, does anyone know if there are any tracks in the south east that allow home built carts on track? my son wants me to build him something for
tarmac use, but am thinking it would be better to get a very small tarmac type but these are expensive and where could he use it anyway, by the way
he's 11 if it helps ???
Thanks
Jason
There's a small race track in Southampton along western shore...
Not sure if its still there though.
Bayford Meadows? near Sittingbourne
Lydd Kart Track , Nr Rye
There are also tracks at Sandown Park Esher,
Buckmore Park , nr Chatham,
I used to race /practise at Surbiton (its called the River Club now) but it may only be rental.
Rye House Hoddesdon Herts.
Camberley Kart Circuit at Blackbushe airport?
Ok, so there seams to be quite a few tracks about then, are there any web sites that I can have a look see at to see what type of carts people use
??
Cheers
Jason
http://www.camberley-kartclub.co.uk/ are a pretty friendly bunch. If it looks and is safe - side pods etc they would probably let it out on a practise
day, best to check (know the place reasopnably well as I used to run there and my mates dad is treasurer of the club)
don't forget daytona at sand down, not sure ofthe setup andthey might be a bit harsher due to insurance and being a company but phonecall
wont' hurt, they do allow privately owned kartrs to run on some days as i understand it, whether they would allow a home built i don't
know.
I'd also check out the cost of building vs buying, you can find an old chassis (eg old tkm or 100c) for practically nothing, normally the engines
are the expensive bit imho.

Jason,
Haven't you got a proper car you should be concentrating on first?
