I am taking the screen of my tiger and have got some wiley X-SG1s for low speed driving but for higher speed stuff i need a helmet. I know nothing about them.

What do i need and can i get it online or do i need to get it fitted?

Any help would be great!!

Oh really where abouts are you? I used to live just down the road from there. I am now in nottingham.

Thanks for the advice

Is there any requirment for track days?

Since its for use in a car, its unlikely to be saving your life, so any cheap lid will do. But try before you buy, an uncomfortable helmet is not pleasant.

Dont know about any requirement for track days but its easy enough to borrow one if your meet the requirement.

Im in Market Bosworth

Whatever you get, ask about the cost of replacement visors - some can be appalling! Also ask about availability.

Otherwise, check for fit, peripheral vision (you need lots when strapped in a car) and ease of fastening. If you wear glasses make sure to try them out, if not, at least try a pair of shades.

The OMP one from Demon Thieves has an extra wide opening and costs, a not unreasonable, 85 quid.

Go for a light weight helmet (<1.5kg). A heavy one can snap your neck! Basilar scull fraktures have killed many racedrivers

A) Make sure you buy one that fits. They're all different shapes - regardless of the size.

B) Buy a BS helmet - not ECE. You will want to at least do a sprint or a hillclimb eventually and an ECE will have been a waste of money. My BS helmet cost me 50 quid.
